iRobot Vacuum and Mop Review
Unlike some robot vacuums, this one isn't afraid to take on the stairs. But, just like any mop and vacuum it is prone to getting blocked by debris such as the stray tennis shoes, ribbons and yarn, play jewelry or other objects that are loose.
The iRobot Home App allows you to label rooms and create no-go zones. You can also monitor the progress of your mops and their battery status.
iRobot Combo j7+
The Combo j7+ is a robot vacuum and mop that combine the smart mapping capabilities of iRobot with its ability to handle spills. It has the same onboard acoustic sensors and iAdapt 2.0 navigation that is used by other Roomba options and maps your home seven times faster than previous models. It also lets you set Keep Out Zones and Clean Zones to inform the robot which areas it should stay clear of and when to clean them.
The robotic arm is the most important feature of the j7. It keeps the mop pad in place when it is not in use and lowers it for carpeting or hard flooring. The concept is to prevent spraying water on the rug, and the Combo j7+ does very well during my tests. The robot backed away when it saw the rug, and didn't attempt to get over it even although I moved the rug several times.
The arm comes with a 240mL tank, which can be easily removed and filled. This makes it more convenient to use as opposed to the mop pads that are found on other 2-in-1 robotic arms. It utilizes iRobot PrevisionVision obstacle-avoidance technology that is more advanced than other systems similar to it.
iRobot Combo i5
Designed for both vacuuming and mopping with the same machine This is an excellent option for those who are multitaskers. The vacuuming process is performed by a special bin that can hold up 60 days' worth of debris that iRobot claims reduces the amount of dust re-released into the air during the process. The i5+ also has dual multi-surface rubber brushes and Power-Lifting Suction to take care of dirt, dust pet hair, and stains on hard floors. When you're ready to mop, just swap between the Mopping Bin and a compatible cleaning solution.
The i5+ runs iRobot OS and is smarter as you use it. It will learn your floorplan, creating a Smart Map that remembers room names and your specific cleaning preferences. You can then direct it to clean a room or set a timer for a complete section of your home with the iRobot app.
iRobot can recognize household clutter, such as shoes, bags, cords and toys. It will then automatically stop and return to the docking station, giving it time to recharge and finish the cleaning task later. It is compatible with voice commands like Amazon Alexa and Apple Siri, and understands about 600 voice commands. This is more than any other 2-in-1 robot.
iRobot Combo j5
The robot mop and vacuum from iRobot will work well in homes with hard floors or carpets. It uses smart mapping and avoids obstacles to ensure that it cleans efficiently. It also offers multiple mopping modes, including the powerful SmartScrub system that can help clean tough stains. In addition, it has the ability to set No Mop Zones in order to ensure that carpets aren't sucked up, and its dock automatically refills mopping solutions. The model is more expensive than the earlier Roomba Combo J7+ but comes with more features.
Its patent-pending Mopping Drive System applies pressure to the floor for more thorough cleaning and eliminates tough staining. It also gets under furniture and into tight spaces to provide an even more thorough cleaning. The Combo J5+ can be used in conjunction with the iRobot Clean Base to automatically dispose of dirt.
Smart Mapping allows it to navigate your home seven times faster than before5 while identifying rooms with 90% accuracy6. It can create a map for the entire house, meaning it can clean wherever you'd like in a single run. It also recognizes and avoids objects like cords, backpacks pet toys, kitty litter boxes socks, shoes, and many more to ensure that you are free of clutter. With the iRobot app you can schedule your home's cleaning schedule and manage your robot from any place.
iRobot Combo i3
The iRobot Combo i3 has been upgraded from the original Roomba i3. It has the same fantastic external dirt compartment and a HEPA filter to trap allergens, but now it also supports smart mapping. You can now create zones that are not accessible to prevent the vacuum from cleaning these areas again. The i3 Plus still has a number of other great features too like its advanced cleaning system, 10x power-lifting suction, and a three-stage process for cleaning. It comes with a textured surface to keep pet hair, dust and fingerprints from getting on.
It does well on plain floors and cleans the majority of debris, but it struggled with pet hair on low-pile carpets. It does a fantastic job on carpets with a lot of pile and is much quieter than the other models. The i3 costs a bit more than the Roborock S4 Max, but it has a self-emptying system that cleans the mop pads and refills the reservoir with water.
With the i3 app you can make schedules to clean at a specific time to suit your needs. You can also utilize your voice assistant to control your robot to start or stop the cleaning. It can also track your home's unique layout and provide personalized cleaning habits and schedule. It utilizes the latest sensors for mapping to navigate hardwood and carpet and learns about your habits to optimize performance.
iRobot Combo i2
The Combo i2 is the latest robot vacuum and mop from iRobot. It is a combination of iRobot's intelligent floor cleaning technology to make it a great choice for homes with hard floors as well as a few rugs or carpets. The Combo i2 has a combo system that allows it to switch between mopping or vacuuming with the push of the button. It also has iRobot's advanced navigation technology. Its PrevisionVision navigation system is better than the average and will avoid obstacles - like power cords and staircases.
Its Smart Map remembers your rooms and your cleaning preferences. It can even tell whether it's in a space that needs special attention, such as the living or kitchen. It also has the Clean Base Automatic Dirt Disposal System that automatically cleans up dust for up to 60 days.
The dual multi-surface brush is another great feature of the Combo i2. They are more effective than conventional mops, and remove dirt from edges and corners. The acoustic sensor of the robot allows this. The Combo i2 is also equipped with powerful suction, as well as an intelligent design. It can be controlled using the iRobot App as well as voice assistants, and an programmable calendar.
iRobot Combo i1
The Combo i1 is one of the only robot vacuums that can mop. When it senses a surface that requires cleaning, a robotic arm with a cleaning pad raises the entire unit and swings underneath it. The back of the unit has a dust bin and a water tank which robot vacuums are the best can be removed to add cleaning solution. The robot utilizes a specific Bona cleaning solution, but it can be utilized with other brands.
Unlike most robot vacuums, the Combo i1 can retract its mophead completely to the top of the robot when it detects carpet. This allows it to vacuum and then clean the carpet with its microfiber cloths and ensure that the surfaces are spotless. It has a full suite of sensors and impressive navigation skills to help it stay clear of obstacles such as furniture and cords.
It also has an upgraded battery to last longer as well as self-emptying mode that decreases the frequency of emptying the trash bin. It's a good option for families who require the convenience of one robot, but with the flexibility of multiple cleaning modes. It can be controlled by voice commands via Alexa or Siri on devices that are compatible with Google Assistant. It can even be scheduled to begin and stop at the time you leave and come back.
iRobot Combo i4
This iRobot robot vacuum and mop is perfect for anyone who wants to clean home without having to lift a hand. It's compatible with Alexa or Google Assistant so you can use voice commands to control it. It also comes with smart mapping technology, meaning you can make a plan for the robot to follow.
It features a slim-profile docking station that doesn't take up the space. It also includes a dirt storage compartment that can be cleaned at the touch of one button. However, you won't be able to look inside the compartment as it's made of opaque plastic. The i4 also lacks certain features, such as keep-out zones, as well as the AI-powered obstacle avoidance found on the j7 and j7+ models.
It does, however, come with a strong vacuum system and brushes made of rubber that don't get tangled with pet hair. It's also a great choice for homes with carpets that are high-pile because it can take care of the more dirt and debris better than weaker vacuums. The i4 requires less maintenance and has lower costs for recurring maintenance, and runs longer in the lowest suction mode.
